The dark colour of these biscuits comes from the whole-wheat flour of the mix.
Here is the recipe for Quick Mix:
6 ½ cups whole wheat flour
1 ½ cups soy flour
1 Tbsp. salt
1 cup instant dry milk
1/3 cup baking powder
2 ½ cups wheat germ.
Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
Store in a tightly-covered jar in refrigerator.
And here is how to make the biscuits.
Quick Mix Biscuits
1/3 cup oil or melted margarine
2/3 cup low-fat milk, buttermilk or low-fat yogurt
2¼ cups Quick Mix
Preheat oven to 450oF.
Combine oil and milk.
Stir in Quick Mix
Turn out onto a floured board and knead lightly.
Pat or roll out 1” (2.5 cm.) thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter.
Put onto a greased baking sheet.
Bake for 12-15 minutes.
