Time needed: about 50 minutes starting with uncooked rice. barely 15 minutes if rice is already cooked.
A simple but attractive dish for everyday! The spinach version I used today is very good and I look forward to trying it with chard.
Cheesy Chard or Spinach
3/4 cup uncooked brown rice
1/2 cup grated cheese, or more to taste
oil, as much as needed
1 large bunch chard, spinach or other leafy green, chopped. For chard, chop stems separately from leaves.
2 onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced or crushed
soy sauce to taste
Cook rice as usual. Set aside.
In a large frypan or wok, sauté the chard stems with the onion and garlic until the onion is quite soft.
Stir in cooked rice. Add green leaves on top.
Cover pan and cook over low heat until leaves are wilted. Then stir leaves into rice mixture beneath.
Add grated cheese and soy sauce. Stir until cheese melts. Serve at once/
