Yield: as much as you have bread for
Time needed: about 10 minutes
Yes, croutons again. Croutons are not only easy and simple to make. They are one way to make sure bread never goes to waste. And by making your own you can create unique combinations of flavours. Today I used garlic, seasoned salt and home-dried parsley.
Preheat oven to 300o F.
Spread bread with butter or brush with oil.
Cut into cubes and spread out on baking pan.
Sprinkle with choice of dried herbs and spices; ,e.g. garlic or onion salt, parsley, basil, oregano, etc.
Toast in oven until thoroughly dry and crispy. (about 5 minutes). Watch carefully to keep from burning.
Use in salads, soup, as a topping on casseroles—wherever a recipe calls for herbed croutons or stuffing.
